Ukraine is ready to establish effective mechanisms to facilitate intensification of bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation with Iran. These issues were discussed at the Ukrainian-Iranian Business Forum, hosted by the Ukrainian CCI with participation of representatives of various sectors of the national economy: engineering industry, agriculture, oil and gas sector, trade and tourism.
"Iran is the main partner of Ukraine in the Persian Gulf region. The development of bilateral cooperation is now especially important for Ukraine, because Iran has a strong and stable economy, abundant natural resources, including energy sources, successfully implements reforms and, besides the energy sector, oil and gas, is developing modern innovative production and nanotechnologies, especially in the biotechnology and in pharmaceutical industry "- said Gennadiy Chyzhykov, UCCI President.
In 2016 as compared to 2015, Ukraine's exports to Iran increased by 32% and imports from Iran - by 30% (705 million US dollars and 40 million US dollars respectively). These are the best figure in the last three years.
Mahmoud Hodzhati, Iranian Minister of Agriculture, said: "Thanks to the coordinated work of both countries after the lifting of sanctions the growth of the trade turnover intensified".
The Iranian delegation also expressed intention of Iran to expand cooperation and informed about plans to hold a second «Iran Expo» exhibition, attracting more companies to it.
"Iran today is one of the most important trade partners of Ukraine in the agricultural sector. But we see prospects in the development of industrial cooperation and collaboration in the research field. We are pleased that our views with Iranian counterparts for further cooperation in the agricultural sector match, "- said Olga Trofimtseva, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
