The Azerbaijani delegation was primarily interested in developing cooperation in pharmaceutical and modern biotechnology spheres, production of various kinds of polymers and plastics and goods from them, and in finding producers of various equipment, including agricultural machinery. Promising areas of cooperation were discussed by business people of both countries during the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani Business Forum held at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The Forum was held during the official visit to Ukraine of the Azerbaijani delegation consisting of representatives of the Government and business circles led by Shahin Mustafayev, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan. The purpose of the visit was preparation for the official visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Ukraine later this year.
"Today's event demonstrates the great interest of Azerbaijani business community to establish contacts with Ukrainian enterprises – the delegation includes more than 40 companies interested in establishing cooperation. If there is mutual interest of businessmen of our countries, the governments Ukraine and Azerbaijan are ready to provide maximum assistance to the speedy implementation of our joint projects. We will continue to intensify our cooperation for the benefit of our economies and welfare of our peoples, to look for new forms of such cooperation", - said Gennadiy Chyzhykov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During the Forum the Ukrainian CCI signed memoranda with the Fund for Promotion of Export and Investments in Azerbaijan and with the National Confederation of Organizations of Entrepreneurs (Employers) of Azerbaijan.
Roman Chuprynenko, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Communal Services of Ukraine, stated: "Today the key areas of cooperation with Azerbaijan, which have real potential for strong development, are: agriculture and food processing, engineering (including airspace industry and military-technical cooperation), fuel and energy complex, realization of joint projects in the pharmaceutical industry, deepening of cooperation in all sectors of the transportation industries, development of tourism in both directions".
